QUESTION
Salaams,
I recently gave birth and my child is 8 weeks old. We have booked hajj for his year as it is fardh upon us and my son will be 3.5 months old. Is it wrong islamically for me to leave my child behind with his grandparents for a month while I perform hajj? Which has more importance? I am also not breastfeeding. Also would you know if leaving a child this young will be detrimental to them in terms of the bond with parents? Please could you enlighten me on this issue.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, once Hajj has become Fardh upon an individual, it is necessary to perform Hajj immediately. If one delays the Hajj without a valid reason in Shariah, one will be sinful.[1]
In the enquired scenario, leaving behind your child is not considered as a valid Sharee reason to delay the Hajj. Hence, if you do not wish to take your child with, then it is necessary for you to leave your child behind and perform Hajj.[2]
Therefore, it will be Islamically correct to leave behind your child and go for Hajj. In fact, it will be a great sacrifice from your side in leaving behind your child, in return you will be rewarded abundantly. Insha-Allah

ثم بعد استجماع شرائط الوجوب يجب على الفور حتى يأثم بالتأخير عند أبي يوسف رواه عنه بشر بن المعلى، وهكذا ذكر ابن شجاع عن أبي حنيفةرحمهما الله تعالى – قال: سئل عمن له مال أيحج به أم يتزوج قال: بل يحج به فذلك دليل على أن الوجوب عنده على الفور.
وعن محمد – رحمه الله تعالى – يسعه التأخير بشرط أن لا يفوته بالموت فإن أخر حتى مات فهو آثم بالتأخير

(قوله بالفور عند أبي يوسف) هو أصح الروايتين عن أبي حنيفة كذا في البرهان (قوله وفي العمر عند محمد) أي بشرط أن لا يفوته بالموت كما سيذكره المصنف وهو رواية عن أبي حنيفة كما في البرهان
